About

Ari/ 24/ She/Her
Hello! My name is Ariael and I am a 24 year old black artist living in Dallas. My name is pronounced like Ariel (air-ee-el) but that extra A has caused quite a bit of confusion in my life. Teenage me was frustrated by all of the princess jokes and constantly having to correct people who say "Oh like the mermaid!", so since I was 14 my artist name has been Ariael Not The Mermaid.
I am aware this name is a mouthful!
Most people just call me Ari :)

My Art

Opt-in to optimism, one creation at a time.
My artwork usually consists of bright, cheerful pastel colors and cute characters juxtaposed with subtle messages that are important to me such as depression, anxiety, and uncertainty. My "childlike" art acts like medicine for things that really worry someone my age (like getting a job or global warming). Instead of focusing on these pessimistic thoughts, I look to inspire people with welcoming and optimistic art.
When I'm not creating games and animations with this goal I'm creating fanart for things that inspire me such as Exo, Hello Kitty, or online creators.
